Types of car insurance coverage in Switzerland
There are four different types of car insurances in Switzerland. There is a minimal coverage that is required by law, which is a third-party liability. The other types of coverage are optional. Take note that liability and partial or full casco coverage insure the vehicle and not the owner. The damages therefore covered irrespective of who was driving at the moment of the accident.

1: There is a minimal coverage that is required by law, which is a third-party liability. These liabilities would cover physical damage or death that could be caused to a third person. Most insurance companies offer more or less the same level of liability insurance coverage.
2: You can go choose for partial casco, which covers different risks like; damage from nature events, fire, vandalism, theft etc.
3: You could go for Full casco, which covers the damage to the car caused by the driver himself. Some car insurance companies also call this insurance ‘fully comprehensive insurance’.
4: You could go for Passenger accident insurance which covers the injuries sustained to passenger and driver. It can be taken out for every passenger individually. It will cover medical costs, daily allowances for hospital stay or incapacity to work.
